ONE fertilised egg - Yeahhhh

Good good good news - the one mature egg fetilised overnight! Retrieval went fine - the two other eggs which turned up late in the piece - were too small - soooo there was a lot hanging on that one egg. Soooo far - it has done us proud! Transfer is tomorrow - I am going into clinic today to ask about assisted hatching. Does anyone else know much about it?

Yay!!! I'm sending lots of strong embryo on transfer day vibes your way!

We used assisted hatching, because of my age. I'm nearly 38, and I guess they thought my crusty old eggs would form tough embryos. I know that the process involves using a weak acid solution to thin the membrane, making it easier for the embryo to hatch. I also know that it slightly increases the risk of identical twins, but it's only a slight risk.

My biggest fear - aside from no implantation at all - is that all three of mine will implant and turn into identical twins. Could you imagine?

GOOD LUCK with the transfer tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you.
